Prospects for Hospitality Management

Enterprise - - Interview -

People choose to dine out for the ultimate experience of good food, pleasant ambience and warm hospitality. The last decade witnessed the highest volume of local and foreign investment in Pakistan in new hotels, restaurants, clubs, resorts, fast food chains, cafes, banquet halls, catering companies, bakeries and other businesses related to food. Significant progress has been made in the service sector in terms of hospitality, travel and tourism and it is clear that the industry has the capacity to earn substantial foreign exchange for the country.

Human resource development in the industry has, however, not been proportionate to the requirements. The government may not be paying enough attention to this area but the private sector is putting in immense efforts to train the raw talent and make it useful for the industry.

The hospitality industry offers excellent prospects for work and a respectable and decent work environment. Trained and skilled people are, in fact, in high demand.

Based in Lahore, the College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM), is the only premier institution in Pakistan that imparts travel, tourism and hospitality management and training in the culinary arts. It maintains internationally recognized standards in producing qualified, trained and skilled human resource for the country’s hospitality industry.

The college is working in collaboration with local and international partners that include American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute, Institute of Commercial Management (UK), Taylor’s College University (Malaysia), Eurhodip – The leading Hotel Schools of Europe, World Association of Chef Societies (WACS) and Chef’s Association of Pakistan
