Enterprise duly highlights the environmental aspects surrounding us. The story titled ‘Deafening Asia’ in the September issue, carried real insights in the problem of rising noise pollution in Asia. It is an issue getting easily ignored in the face alarming natural disasters. Most Asian residents overlook the noise menace as a part of urbanization phenomenon. But as Asia is becoming a hub of megacities in the world, there are also increasing number of challenges posed to the city dwellers. The government and public should collectively take measures and reduce the sources of noise pollution. People should lessen their exposure to noise sources as part of general healthcare precautions, while the government needs to establish monitoring of noise levels in cities and issue public warnings to put on protective coverings. The decibel ratings in our cities will eventually go down, once we become responsive other than being sensitive to the noise around us
