Pak­istan 9th global mo­bile sub­scriber

Pak­istan has achieved the 9th rank­ing in the global mo­bile phone sub­scrip­tion. The global cel­lu­lar in­dus­try has achieved an­other mile­stone with over six bil­lion mo­bile phone subscriptions. Ac­cord­ing to the fore­cast data pro­vided by Wire­less In­tel­li­gence, this fig­ure will cross the mark by the end of 2011. With China at the top, fol­lowed by In­dia at sec­ond, In­done­sia at fourth, Viet­nam at sev­enth, Ja­pan at eighth and Pak­istan at ninth place, the Asia Pa­cific re­gion has mainly con­trib­uted to this ma­jor growth rate. The fore­casts also re­veal that Asia Pa­cific will hold 50 per­cent of global mo­bile sub­scrip­tion share by the end of 2011. In terms of tech­nol­ogy, GSM leads with 73 per­cent of global con­nec­tions fol­lowed by WCDMA/ HSPA hold­ing 16 per­cent and CDMA with 9 per­cent of shares.
