FPCCI in strengthening Pak-china relations
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) is engaged in promoting Pakistan’s exports to China. Under the umbrella of FPCCI, 42 exhibitors participated in the 12th Western China International Fair (WCIF) in Chengdu in Sichuan Province, attended by more than 40 countries from Asia. According to Tariq Sayeed, former President of FPCCI and patron-in-chief of Pak-china Business Council, “The fair has indeed helped in promoting Pakistani export products in Chinese markets, which will eventually help in reducing the gap in trade with China.”
The Sichuan sub-council of China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has established Sichuan International Commodity Display Centre at the World Trade Office building adjacent to the FPCCI Chengdu office, which aims at promoting Pakistani export products in China. Tariq Sayeed, in a meeting with officials of CCPIT Sichuan subcouncil, referred to the establishment of the Display Centre as an important step towards promotion of Pakistani products in Sichuan province in particular and in China in general.
Tariq Sayeed appreciated the vision of CCPIT for giving greater market access to Pakistan as well as South Asian countries by allocating free space for display of Pakistan’s export products. The Display Centre has special allocated area for business-tobusiness meetings wherein the businessmen from Pakistan would be able to meet their counterparts in China. The establishment of Display Centre is in addition to the FPCCI Chengdu Office established in 2010, to further deepen PakChina relations
