Branding weekly bazaars

Enterprise - - Editor’s desk - Tehmina Hashim Karachi

It was refreshing to read the article in your last issue, titled ‘The Potential of Weekly Bazaars’. I was not aware of the economic potential these temporary markets offer. Most people who visit these bazaars seem to be only concerned with the easy access and somewhat lower prices, while the vendors only aim at selling their ware to eke out a living. It is important for the government to provide an infrastructure that channelizes this potential networking spot for vendors, wholesalers and exporters. It is also important to improve the overall aesthetics and hygienic conditions of the bazaars to attract high-end buyers. The Sunday Bazaar location in DHA Karachi has been developed on these lines and draws big crowds from all income segments. The same can be done at other bazaars
