Expanding into Sudan

The last Enterprise cover story provided a comprehensive view of Pakistan’s trade prospects with Sudan, a country that seems to be away from the severe Western recession. As Osman Elmahdi Osman highlighted, the scope for Pakistan’s goods and services sector to capture the Sudanese market is enormous. His visit was highly encouraging for our country which could gain immense benefits from Sudan’s free trade zones. Sudan has strengthened its partnership with emerging as well as advanced countries, especially China, Malaysia and India. This has enabled the country to build a resource-backed infrastructure based on public service projects as well as private sector development. Enterprise informed us about the meetings that Osman Elmahdi held with important industry leaders in Karachi. Undoubtedly, it is the strong role of Pakistan’s trade bodies like FPCCI, KATI and REAP among others, that enhances the country’s representation in overseas markets
