The 1st Multi-modal International Transport and Logistics Exhibition and Conference - Intertrans Pakistan 2012 will be held from January 12 to 15, 2012 at Expo Centre, Karachi.

The Transportation and Logistics industry is the most important support for all other sectors in Pakistan and adjoining regions. Being strategically located at the centre of a commercially important region of the world, Pakistan has become a regional gateway to international trade markets. It is a hub of transportation and logistics activities for domestic, regional and international trade routes. Facilitating this process is the transportation and logistics industry, which is engaged in moving and handling enormous amounts of cargo.

The transportation and logistics industry in Pakistan contributes US $17 billion to the national exchequer or 10.2 percent to the GDP. The Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) has allocated US $2.21 billion for development and upgradation of transportation infrastructure for more penetration, indicating its key importance.

Intertrans Pakistan is the very first multi-modal transportation and logistics ensemble in the country. It is arranged to provide this important sector with the only platform of its kind, a single sourcing event for latest transportation and logistics technology, equipment and solutions.

Extensive local participation and international companies from over 10 countries will be represented at Intertrans Pakistan 2012, premiering 3PL (Third Party Logistics), freight forwarding, shipping lines, trucking, air cargo, project logistics, ports and container terminals, material handling, warehousing, marine surveyors, cranes, trailers and other related technologies and services.

The exhibition is supported by BOI (Board of Investment), EDB (Engineering Development Board), NTTFC (National Trade and Transportation Facilitation Committee), PIFFA (Pakistan International Freight Forwarders Association), APSA (All Pakistan Shipping Association), ACAAP (Air Cargo Agents Association Pakistan), Pakistan Railways, IMTA (International Multimodal Transport Association) and ICC – Pakistan (International Chamber of Commerce – Pakistan).

APSA (All Pakistan Shipping Association) is also organizing a high profile ‘Transport and Logistic Conference’ scheduled on January 13, 2012. The conference will be addressed by renowned international and local industry experts who will share their insights about emerging business trends in the industry and will discuss the challenges faced by the local industry
