Prospects for Readymade Garments

Enterprise - - Editor’s desk -

Enterprise has duly covered the readymade garments industry, one of the key sectors of Pakistani textiles. The dominance of readymade garments in the local market is clearly evident, while the exports front for the made-up sector is also seeing worthy progress. Pakistan has enjoyed the position of a major Asian player in garment exports for decades but the current energy crisis is hampering its further growth. Despite this situation, as

Enterprise has reported on the textile policy initiatives by the government, there should be certainly a revival of the industry in near future. In this context, the research and development sector needs to be strengthened so that there is a simultaneous addition of new products and policies along with removal of ill-practices. It has been helpful to understand the issues of the industry and forward relevant suggestions in a comprehensive manner. It is expected that the government will take immediate initiatives towards protecting the country’s industrial infrastructure
