‘Lifestyle Pakistan’ makes a mark in India
The “Lifestyle Pakistan” exhibition organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) received a tremendous response from the Indian public that was present to buy Pakistani brands in huge numbers.
The event was jointly inaugurated on April 12, 2012, by Anand Sharma, Indian Commerce Minister, Zafar Mahmood, Pakistan Secretary Commerce, Tariq Iqbal Puri, Chief Executive, TDAP and Shahid Malik, High Commissioner of Pakistan to India.
The Lifestyle Pakistan exhibition was organized to tie up with formal talks between Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Pakistan Minister of Commerce and his Indian counterpart Anand Sharma, who asserted that Pakistan and India had agreed to advance their trade and economic relations further for the benefit of the business communities and consumers of both countries.
It was hoped that the event will help build trade ties and develop marketing networks between India and Pakistan. According to Puri, the exhibition was one of the chains in trade normalization between the two countries and this particular one came about on a very pleasant note as it coincided with President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to India.
Puri said Pakistani textile products and home textiles are very well accepted in India which has a huge potential of billions of dollars. People from Pakistan are looking forward to develop a marketing network in India and, with the opening of the border, trade will grow enormously.
Over 100 top Pakistani brands and designers representing textiles, couture and pret wear, home textiles, furniture, leather goods, accessories, handicraft and jewellery participated in the exhibition.
