PSO participates in Earth Hour 2012
PSO participated in the Earth Hour, when on March 31, 2012, unnecessary lights were switched off between 8:30 and 9:30 pm at the PSO Head Office and were dimmed at selected PSO retail outlets in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
Commenting on the initiative, Naeem Yahya Mir, Managing Director, PSO, said, “Environmental conservation has been a key focus of Pakistan State Oil to address pressing issues the planet is facing. At PSO, we recognize that we must take on the responsibility to reduce the environmental footprint of our products and operations. Today we also urge our employees and our stakeholders to limit their use of energy for one hour to help save this planet. It is a call to stand up, take responsibility and get involved as even the smallest act can help in energy conservation for generations to come.”
The PSO family also signed a pledge to show their support for Earth Hour. Senior management and employees of PSO pledged to play their bit in support of WWF’S global initiative.
Earth Hour is the world’s largest global climate change initiative. It is a commitment led by World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature for energy conservation, climate change and global warming.
Being Pakistan’s largest energy company, PSO is aware of its responsibility towards energy conservation. By helping to support Earth Hour, PSO joined WWF and millions of people around the world in sending a clear message about the issue of climate change.
However, PSO’S commitment to being a green corporate citizen extends beyond its Earth Hour activities. Other initiatives include offering products with green additives that minimize exhaust emissions and result in less pollution and a cleaner environment.
