PSO par­tic­i­pates in Earth Hour 2012

PSO par­tic­i­pated in the Earth Hour, when on March 31, 2012, un­nec­es­sary lights were switched off be­tween 8:30 and 9:30 pm at the PSO Head Of­fice and were dimmed at se­lected PSO re­tail out­lets in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Com­ment­ing on the ini­tia­tive, Naeem Yahya Mir, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, PSO, said, “En­vi­ron­men­tal con­ser­va­tion has been a key fo­cus of Pak­istan State Oil to ad­dress press­ing is­sues the planet is fac­ing. At PSO, we rec­og­nize that we must take on the re­spon­si­bil­ity to re­duce the en­vi­ron­men­tal foot­print of our prod­ucts and op­er­a­tions. To­day we also urge our em­ploy­ees and our stake­hold­ers to limit their use of en­ergy for one hour to help save this planet. It is a call to stand up, take re­spon­si­bil­ity and get in­volved as even the small­est act can help in en­ergy con­ser­va­tion for gen­er­a­tions to come.”

The PSO fam­ily also signed a pledge to show their sup­port for Earth Hour. Se­nior man­age­ment and em­ploy­ees of PSO pledged to play their bit in sup­port of WWF’S global ini­tia­tive.

Earth Hour is the world’s largest global cli­mate change ini­tia­tive. It is a com­mit­ment led by World Wide Fund (WWF) for Na­ture for en­ergy con­ser­va­tion, cli­mate change and global warm­ing.

Be­ing Pak­istan’s largest en­ergy com­pany, PSO is aware of its re­spon­si­bil­ity to­wards en­ergy con­ser­va­tion. By help­ing to sup­port Earth Hour, PSO joined WWF and mil­lions of peo­ple around the world in send­ing a clear mes­sage about the is­sue of cli­mate change.

How­ever, PSO’S com­mit­ment to be­ing a green cor­po­rate cit­i­zen ex­tends be­yond its Earth Hour ac­tiv­i­ties. Other ini­tia­tives in­clude of­fer­ing prod­ucts with green ad­di­tives that min­i­mize ex­haust emis­sions and re­sult in less pol­lu­tion and a cleaner en­vi­ron­ment.
