Mar­ble, Onyx and Gran­ite de­posits in Pak­istan

Pak­istan has an enor­mous wealth of mar­ble, re-crys­tal­lized lime­stone, fos­sil-fer­rous lime­stone, dolomite and gran­ite. Mar­ble Re­serves: Not specif­i­cally mea­sured. How­ever, more than 300 bil­lion tonnes of re­serves of Mar­ble and Onyx are es­ti­mated.

Ma­jor colours: White, black, green, pink, grey, brown and yel­low.

Lo­ca­tion: Mohmand Agency, Chi­tral, Buner, Swat, Parachi­nar, Gilgit, Hunza, Swabi, Ba­jaur, Mardan, Waziris­tan, Azad Kash­mir, Las­bela, Cha­gai and Khuz­dar. Onyx Ma­jor colours: Dark Green with lay­ers of light green, green with streaks of white and yel­low and white with lay­ers of light grey.

Lo­ca­tion: Onyx oc­curs mainly in Cha­gai Dis­trict in Balochis­tan. Balochis­tan’s Onyx is pre­ferred in the world mar­kets and is used for fac­ing, floor­ing and dec­o­ra­tive items. Gran­ite

Re­serves: Not specif­i­cally mea­sured. How­ever, more than 1000 bil­lion tonnes of gran­ite re­serves are gen­er­ally es­ti­mated.

Ma­jor colours: Black, pink, grey, green, gold, yel­low and red.

Lo­ca­tion: Gilgit, Dir, Chi­tral, Swabi, Ko­his­tan, Na­garparker, Cha­gai, Mansehra, Malakand and Swat. Na­garparkar (Sindh) and Mansehra (Khy­ber Pukhtoonkhwa) are only known sources of work­able gran­ite in the coun­try. Ge­o­log­i­cal re­search in­di­cates su­pe­rior qual­ity of de­posits in the Gilgit re­gion.
