My Karachi – Oa­sis of Har­mony

Younus Bashir, act­ing Pres­i­dent, Karachi Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try (KCCI), an­nounced the 9th in­ter­na­tional 3-day ex­hi­bi­tion ‘My Karachi-Oa­sis of Har­mony’ to be held on July 13-15, 2012 at Karachi Expo Cen­tre.

KCCI is ex­pect­ing to gen­er­ate Rs. 20 mil­lion from the ex­hi­bi­tion. The cham­ber has booked four halls of Expo Cen­tre out of which hall No. 1 will have 27 stalls of Rs. 46.20 lacs. Hall No 2 will have a to­tal of 28 stalls of Rs. 73 lacs, hall No 3. with 34 stalls of Rs. 46 lacs, while hall No. 4 will have 115 stalls of Rs. 15 lacs, ma­jor­ity of them re­served for women en­trepreneurs to be given on dis­counted rates.

The cham­ber has de­signed “My Karachi-Oa­sis of Har­mony Ex­hi­bi­tion 2012” to act as the av­enue for in­ter­ac­tive (B2B) busi­ness-to-busi­ness link­ages and (B2C) busi­ness-to-con­sumer re­la­tion­ship.

Ac­cord­ing to Bashir, the pur­pose of hold­ing this ex­hi­bi­tion was to in­tro­duce and pop­u­lar­ize “Made in Pak­istan” brand and negate the neg­a­tive pro­pa­ganda against Pak­istan and show the world that this is a dy­namic coun­try.

Bashir said that In­done­sia and Bom­bay Cham­ber of Com­merce have con­firmed their par­tic­i­pa­tion in the show while other coun­tries in­clud­ing Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be send­ing their con­fir­ma­tion soon. He said lead­ing Pak­istani com­pa­nies and multi­na­tion­als and for­eign ex­hibitors will dis­play their prod­ucts at more than 200 stalls in four halls.

Si­raj Kassem Teli, for­mer Pres­i­dent, KCCI and Chair­man, Busi­ness­men Group, said 500,000 to 600,000 peo­ple visit the ex­hi­bi­tion in three days and this is open only for “fam­i­lies” and the en­try is free. He said the re­silient peo­ple of Karachi, Sindh Gover­nor, pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment, TDAP and diplo­mats ex­tend their full sup­port to this mega event which has be­come the iden­tity of KCCI.
