This is with ref­er­ence to the MFN story pub­lished in En­ter­prise in Au­gust. The bit­ter­ness present be­tween the two coun­tries, In­dia and Pak­istan, has for years ham­pered their trade re­la­tions. It was an ex­tremely ra­tio­nal and prac­ti­cal de­ci­sion on the part of Pak­istan to grant In­dia the sta­tus of Most Favoured Na­tion. The two way MFN sit­u­a­tion would def­i­nitely lead to smoother bi­lat­eral trade. It would al­low Pak­istani busi­ness­men to es­tab­lish them­selves in the In­dian mar­ket. The in­creased vol­ume of trade through road and rail links would also serve as an ad­di­tional push for the au­thor­i­ties to im­prove the in­ad­e­quate in­fra­struc­ture in Pak­istan.
