Pak­istan, Bahrain to en­hance trade re­la­tions

Pak­istan and Bahrain have agreed to en­hance eco­nomic re­la­tions at a con­fer­ence in Manama. To fur­ther en­hance co­op­er­a­tion, the two coun­tries have de­cided to es­tab­lish the Pak­istan-Bahrain In­vest­ment Com­pany. A spokesper­son for the Pun­jab Board of In­vest­ment and Trade (PBIT) said two mem­o­randa of un­der­stand­ing (MoUs) were signed dur­ing the event.

An MoU was signed be­tween PBIT and the Bahrain Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Board, un­der which the two par­ties will work closely to en­hance eco­nomic co­op­er­a­tion. Another MoU was signed be­tween the Fed­er­a­tion of Pak­istan Cham­bers of Com­merce and In­dus­try (FPCCI) and the Bahrain Cham­ber of Com­merce for the same pur­pose. Dur­ing the con­fer­ence, Pak­istan and Bahrain also agreed to es­tab­lish dis­play cen­tre of Pak­istani goods in Bahrain. The con­fer­ence was or­gan­ised to en­hance bi­lat­eral trade and eco­nomic re­la­tions.

Dur­ing the event, PBIT ex­plored col­lab­o­ra­tions with busi­nesses and in­vestors from var­i­ous coun­tries, in­clud­ing Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Ara­bia and the UAE. A Bahraini com­pany, Al­bakara, ex­pressed in­ter­est in Pun­jab’s grow­ing meat mar­ket, while many other in­vestors were keen to ex­plore op­por­tu­ni­ties in Pun­jab’s agriculture and live­stock sec­tors.
