UAF spring fes­ti­val

FAISAL­ABAD— Six-day Spring Fes­ti­val of Univer­sity of Agri­cul­ture Faisal­abad (UAF) will be con­cluded here on Sun­day (March 31, 2013). As the Spring Fes­ti­val staged by Univer­sity of Agri­cul­ture Faisal­abad (UAF) draws closer to its last day, tens of hun­dreds of lo­cals turned up in droves to have a de­light of the color of fes­tiv­i­ties. The event brought a rich blend of agri­cul­tural and cul­tural events in­clud­ing agri­cul­tural ex­hi­bi­tion, fancy bird show, pet show, grey­hound races, tent peg­ging, farmer con­ven­tion, con­fer­ences, alumni meet and cul­tural show etc. on the di­rec­tion of UAF Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof Dr Iqrar Ah­mad Khan. The fes­ti­val is meant to pro­vide a plat­form to com­mon per­sons and farm­ing com­mu­nity to in­ter­act with so­cial as well agri­cul­tural ex­perts. It helps not only to mo­ti­vate the farm­ing com­mu­nity about us­ing mod­ern tech­niques but also trans­fer our rich cul­ture in the young gen­er­a­tion. Be­sides, it also be­comes a place of en­ter­tain­ment to get refuge from their mo­not­o­nous rou­tine and show­case the skills of stu­dents in front of large gath­er­ing. The site of agri ex­hi­bi­tion re­mained a source of at­trac­tion for the agri­cul­ture lovers who came here to wit­ness the lat­est trends. As many as more than 80 stalls were set up at the ex­hi­bi­tion from the UAF De­part­ments and dif­fer­ent renowned agri­cul­tural groups. At the bird show, more than 2,000 birds are dis­played of 15 spices with more than 50 va­ri­eties in each species.—APP
