1137 to con­test LB polls in 80 UCs

A to­tal of 1,137 peo­ple have filed their nom­i­na­tion pa­pers to con­test lo­cal bod­ies’ elec­tions in 80 union coun­cils here. The process com­pleted in Fri­day night. Ac­cord­ing to lo­cal Elec­tion Com­mis­sion sources, 570 nom­i­na­tion pa­pers were filed for 80 union coun­cils chair­man and vice-chair­man of­fices while 1,567 for gen­eral coun­cilors’ slot. A to­tal of 221 peo­ple sub­mit­ted their pa­pers for 33 wards of Mandi Ba­haud­din, 115 for Phalia and 87 for 12 wards of Malak­wal, added the sources.

Mean­while one per­son was in­jured in in­dis­crim­i­nate fir­ing dur­ing a wed­ding. Muham­mad Latif had ar­ranged re­cep­tion for two bride­grooms and per­sons ac­com­pa­ny­ing them on the mar­riage of her two daugh­ters at Qadirabad. Mean­while, some Barari­tis started in­dis­crim­i­nate fir­ing. As a re­sult, Ma­jid was in­jured. Qadirabad po­lice reached the place of oc­cur­rence and reg­is­tered a case against bride­groom Muham­mad Abrar and his brothers Amran and Us­man, bride’s fa­ther Latif and Waliat. The in­jured was shifted to Phalia hos­pi­tal where he is un­der treat­ment.
