1137 to contest LB polls in 80 UCs
A total of 1,137 people have filed their nomination papers to contest local bodies’ elections in 80 union councils here. The process completed in Friday night. According to local Election Commission sources, 570 nomination papers were filed for 80 union councils chairman and vice-chairman offices while 1,567 for general councilors’ slot. A total of 221 people submitted their papers for 33 wards of Mandi Bahauddin, 115 for Phalia and 87 for 12 wards of Malakwal, added the sources.
Meanwhile one person was injured in indiscriminate firing during a wedding. Muhammad Latif had arranged reception for two bridegrooms and persons accompanying them on the marriage of her two daughters at Qadirabad. Meanwhile, some Bararitis started indiscriminate firing. As a result, Majid was injured. Qadirabad police reached the place of occurrence and registered a case against bridegroom Muhammad Abrar and his brothers Amran and Usman, bride’s father Latif and Waliat. The injured was shifted to Phalia hospital where he is under treatment.
