SU de­cides to set up Stu­dents Cen­tre

The man­age­ment of Univer­sity of Sindh has de­cided to es­tab­lish Sindh Univer­sity Stu­dents Center at its main cam­pus Jamshoro with the ob­jec­tive to pro­vide fa­cil­ity to sit and dis­cuss the aca­demic mat­ters and so­cial is­sues at one place by the stu­dents. The de­ci­sion to this ef­fect was made at a meet­ing held here Mon­day un­der the chair­man­ship of Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Mughal. The meet­ing dis­cussed and re­solved that a suit­able build­ing would also be al­lo­cated for es­tab­lish­ment of the stu­dents’ center at the cam­pus. The meet­ing also de­cided to set up a cen­tral can­teen for the fac­ulty mem­bers of the Univer­sity so that they could have a fa­cil­ity for lunch as well as re­fresh­ment at a cen­tral place. The meet­ing also ex­am­ined the mat­ter re­gard­ing shops, can­teens and messes at dif­fer­ent places at the cam­pus and in­side boys and girls hos­tels. In or­der to pre­pare a uni­form pol­icy for al­lo­cat­ing space, is­su­ing per­mis­sions and fix­a­tion of rent and other util­ity charges, the meet­ing formed a four- mem­ber com­mit­tee headed by Dr. Abida Ta­herani with the task to pre­pare its rec­om­men­da­tions within two days for al­lo­ca­tion of space for es­tab­lish­ment of shops, messes and can­teens and also rent. The com­mit­tee would also pre­pare its rec­om­men­da­tions for es­tab­lish­ment of Stu­dents Center and Fac­ulty Cen­tral Can­teen dur­ing new-year 2014 and will sug­gest the fea­si­bil­ity of build­ings. The Vice Chan­cel­lor also di­rected the Plan­ning and De­vel­op­ment Wing to pre­pare PC-I for HEC for fund­ing for the con­struc­tion of new build­ing for the Stu­dents Center and other fa­cil­i­ties.—APP
