How­ever, crit­ics had termed the in­ci­dent a planned act in or­der to pro­vide Mushar­raf an ex­cuse to not ap­pear in the spe­cial court for the hear­ing of the high trea­son case against him.

The peo­ple of area spot­ted an un­claimed poly­thene bag placed in the green­belt be­side the Park Road on Mushar­raf’s route and in­formed the area po­lice, the sources said. The sources said po­lice ar­rived and found a sus­pi­cious sack on the road near the Na­tional In­sti­tute of Health (NIH), Is­lam­abad.

The BDS reached the scene and checked the sus­pi­cious bag. Five kg ex­plo­sive ma­te­rial, two blast­ing caps, one switch, prima wire, two pis­tols, two mag­a­zines and two rounds were re­cov­ered from the bag.

Sources said that the ex­plo­sive ma­te­rial was not at­tached with the det­o­na­tor and it was not ready to be blown up. The BDS de­fused the ex­plo­sives and cleared the area. A case was reg­is­tered with the Shahzad Town Po­lice Sta­tion and the po­lice and in­tel­li­gence agen­cies had ini­ti­ated in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
