Students given laptops, including a student suffering from cancer in Al-Shifa Hospital

As many as 4495 brilliant and talented students of Rawalpindi district were given laptop computers here on Saturday. A laptop computers distribution ceremony for the students of Rawalpindi district, under the Chief Minister’s Youth initiative Program, was held here at Government College for Women, 6th Road. Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar was the chief guest, while MNA Tahira Aurangzaib, MPA Raja Hanif, PML-N leaders Zia ullah Shah, Sardar Naseem, Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi Dr Muhammad Zareef, Director Colleges Hamyoun Iqbal and Deputy Director Colleges and Secretary RBISE Rana Javed were present on the occasion. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar addressing the participants said that future of Pakistan lies in the hands of young generation as today’s youth will lead the country in future and a great responsibility lies on their shoulders. The Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab have made significant advancements for use of Information Technology in education sector, he said.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that Punjab government is taking solid steps for welfare and uplift of the youth, especially for talented and educated lot as the government considers youth as an asset of the country.
He said young generation is the centre of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s policies and government wants to improve the capabilities of the educated youth and provide them higher education facilities to enable them play a pivotal and active role in the socioeconomic development of the country.
Provincial Minister said that young boys and girls are showing excellent results in their educational carriers. He said that educated youth can transform the society into a developed nation and the government is taking practical steps to provide opportunities and facilities for the youth to achieve such objective.
Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken various steps for enhancing the opportunities of higher education for the students of low income families, he said adding, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif established Danish schools, Punjab Education Endowment Fund ( PEEF) and provided laptop computers to the talented students for encouragement of the positions holder students.
He called upon the students to work hard, especially during educational career and make achievements in life to earn good name for themselves, their parents, teachers and nation. Earlier, a smart contingent of police presented guard of honour to the talented students.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Saturday visited Al-Shifa Hospital and handed over a laptop computer to Iqra Abbasi, a talented student, who is suffering from cancer. Iqra Abbasi, 18, a resident of Tehsil Murree got 948 marks in SSC examination so her name was included among students considered eligible for laptop computer, but she was unable to attend the ceremony at Government Postgraduate College for Women, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi, due to her illness.
Raja Ahsfaq Sarwar along with Raja Muhammad Hanif, Sardar Muhammad Naseem and Director Colleges Hamyoun Iqbal visited Al-Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad and handed over the gift to Iqra, who thanked Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Provincial Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on their whole hearted support and encouragement. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar prayed for her early recovery and appreciated her spirit and moral.
