Jhagra stresses need for quality education
PESHAWAR—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while presiding over the meeting of the senate of the university of Peshawar which was held at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Wednesday has stressed on quality of education and research and said there is a need to be more focused on introducing demand oriented disciplines adding that through research and innovation we can address the problems and issues faced by our country.
The meeting was attended by the Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Higher Education, , Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Secretary Higher Education Department, Secretary finance, Secretary establishment, representatives of university grant commission, Principal Secretary to Governor, Sikandar Qayum, other members of the senate. The Vice Chancellor of the Peshawar University, Prof. Dr. Rasool Jan presented the details of the agenda items.
The meeting approved the annual report for the Year 2013-14 and also discussed the various proposals to further streamline administrative and financial matters of the university. The senate also constituted the 5member committee to formulate strategic management plan for the university and directed to submit its report within 3 months.
