FUI Convocation held; 257 graduates awarded degrees

RAWALPINDI—The 2016 Convocation of Foundation University Islamabad (FUI) was held here Wednesday at the University’s Auditorium.
The Chief Executive and Managing Director (MD) Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (FFBL) Lt. Gen. Muhammad Haroon Aslam presided over the convocation while Rector FUI Maj. Gen. Khadim Hussain and Director FU Rawalpindi Campus Brig. Dr Akhtar Nawaz Malik were also present on the occasion.
As many as 257 graduates of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Engineering, IT, M.Phil Psychology and M.Phil Economics were awarded degrees.
The chief guest also awarded eight gold, seven silver medals, six distinction certificates and 15 merit certificates to the students who topped the examination in their respective disciplines.
The award for best graduating student was clinched by Salman Farooq, besides getting the cash prize.
Addressing the participants, the chief guest appreciated and felicitated the Rector and Director FUI on success of the students.
He said, the graduates will now have an opportunity to use their knowledge and expertise in serving the country.
This new phase while imposing new challenges also offers great opportunity to make Pakistan a vibrant and respectable country amongst the comity of nations, he added.
He lauded efforts of the faculty and entire Management of FUI for improving quality of education, teaching and learning environment.
Today is a gala day for the young graduates as their long lasting aspirations and dreams of their parents are being transformed into reality, he said.
He advised the students work with passion and face the challenges from the front and put their level best to achieve the targets. In his welcome address, the Rector highlighted the progress and academic excellence FUI has achieved in the past years. He said, the university is committed to produce innovate, internationally competitive graduates for the development of Pakistan. He hoped that the FUI graduates are expected to possess high professional competence combined with humanistic and moral qualities. In the end, Rector FUI presented a shield to the chief guest.
