FUI Con­vo­ca­tion held; 257 grad­u­ates awarded de­grees

Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment Pol­icy In­sti­tute is or­ga­niz­ing a spe­cial talk on ‘Youth in Pak­istan: Pak­istan Hu­man Devel­op­ment Re­port,’ by Dr. Adil Na­jam, Dean Fac­ulty Bos­ton Univer­sity, ex-Vice Chan­cel­lor LUMS on 28-0416, time 3pm-5pm, at SDPI. RAWALPINDI—The 2016 Con­vo­ca­tion of Foun­da­tion Univer­sity Islamabad (FUI) was held here Wed­nes­day at the Univer­sity’s Au­di­to­rium.

The Chief Ex­ec­u­tive and Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor (MD) Fauji Fer­til­izer Bin Qasim Lim­ited (FFBL) Lt. Gen. Muham­mad Ha­roon As­lam presided over the con­vo­ca­tion while Rec­tor FUI Maj. Gen. Khadim Hus­sain and Di­rec­tor FU Rawalpindi Cam­pus Brig. Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ma­lik were also present on the oc­ca­sion.

As many as 257 grad­u­ates of Hu­man­i­ties and Lib­eral Arts, En­gi­neer­ing, IT, M.Phil Psy­chol­ogy and M.Phil Eco­nom­ics were awarded de­grees.

The chief guest also awarded eight gold, seven sil­ver medals, six dis­tinc­tion cer­tifi­cates and 15 merit cer­tifi­cates to the stu­dents who topped the ex­am­i­na­tion in their re­spec­tive dis­ci­plines.

The award for best grad­u­at­ing stu­dent was clinched by Sal­man Fa­rooq, be­sides get­ting the cash prize.

Ad­dress­ing the par­tic­i­pants, the chief guest ap­pre­ci­ated and fe­lic­i­tated the Rec­tor and Di­rec­tor FUI on suc­cess of the stu­dents.

He said, the grad­u­ates will now have an op­por­tu­nity to use their knowl­edge and ex­per­tise in serv­ing the coun­try.

This new phase while im­pos­ing new chal­lenges also of­fers great op­por­tu­nity to make Pak­istan a vi­brant and re­spectable coun­try amongst the comity of na­tions, he added.

He lauded ef­forts of the fac­ulty and en­tire Man­age­ment of FUI for im­prov­ing qual­ity of ed­u­ca­tion, teach­ing and learn­ing en­vi­ron­ment.

To­day is a gala day for the young grad­u­ates as their long last­ing as­pi­ra­tions and dreams of their par­ents are be­ing trans­formed into re­al­ity, he said.

He ad­vised the stu­dents work with pas­sion and face the chal­lenges from the front and put their level best to achieve the tar­gets. In his wel­come ad­dress, the Rec­tor high­lighted the progress and aca­demic ex­cel­lence FUI has achieved in the past years. He said, the univer­sity is com­mit­ted to pro­duce in­no­vate, in­ter­na­tion­ally com­pet­i­tive grad­u­ates for the devel­op­ment of Pak­istan. He hoped that the FUI grad­u­ates are ex­pected to pos­sess high pro­fes­sional com­pe­tence com­bined with hu­man­is­tic and moral qual­i­ties. In the end, Rec­tor FUI pre­sented a shield to the chief guest.
