En­tre­pre­neur­ial week starts at NUML

ISLAMABAD—An en­tre­pre­neur­ial week, ar­ranged by the fac­ulty of man­age­ment sciences started here on Wed­nes­day at Na­tional Univer­sity of Mod­ern Lan­guages (NUML). The event was ar­ranged to pro­vide fu­ture en­trepreneurs not only with an op­por­tu­nity to take their maiden flight into wide stretch of busi­ness and learn tricks of what ac­tu­ally goes into do­ing a busi­ness but also to re­duce the in­dus­try­a­cademia gap, More than 70 stalls were es­tab­lished in the En­tre­pre­neur­ial Week. The par­tic­i­pat­ing stu­dents came up with in­no­va­tive ideas and put up a va­ri­ety of cre­ative works of art and crafts, tex­tile items, books, ac­ces­sories, jew­ellery and food for sale, said a press re­leas here Wed­nes­day.

Rec­tor NUML Ma­jor Gen­eral Zia Ud­din Na­jam (Retd) vis­ited dif­fer­ent stalls and ap­pre­ci­ate the stu­dents’ cre­ative ideas re­gard­ing busi­nesses. Di­rec­tor Gen­eral NUML Brig Riaz Ahmed Gondal, Dean Fac­ulty of Man­age­ment Sciences Dr. Maq­sood ul Has­san, HoD MS Dr. Naveed Akhtar and oth­ers were also present on the oc­ca­sion.

Speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion Rec­tor NUML Ma­jor Gen­eral Zia Ud­din Na­jam (retd) said that stu­dents need to be self-con­fi­dent and should have an en­tre­pre­neur­ial mind­set to ex­e­cute their busi­ness projects in an ef­fec­tive man­ners in fu­ture. The aim of the ac­tiv­ity was to help stu­dents seek op­por­tu­ni­ties, ob­tain fi­nances and to ef­fi­ciently de­velop and mar­ket new prod­ucts, he said.

Dean Man­age­ment Sciences Maq­soodul Has­san while talk­ing to this scribe said that en­tre­pre­neur­ial week is ar­ranged ev­ery se­mes­ter for the stu­dents of MBA and BBA as a project work for the sub­ject of ‘En­trepreneur­ship’. It ac­tu­ally helps stu­dents to un­der­stand and ex­er­cise the con­cepts like how to ini­ti­ate an idea and es­tab­lish a busi­ness.

On the other hand it helps stu­dents to cre­ate jobs for them­selves and for oth­ers, he added.
