Nation should unite against terrorism: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD —Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Rehman A Malik on Wednesday urged the nation to unite and forge unity among its ranks to fight terrorism and extremism.Talking to reporters here, Rehman Malik said terrorism was major issue and it should be addressed unitedly with determination.
He added that India was involved in anti-Pakistan activities. Rehman Malik lauded the Pakistan Army on successful completion of operation in Shawal.—APP ISLAMABAD—National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) would provide triple play voice and broadband services to Defense Housing Authority Islamabad-Rawalpindi. At an agreement signing ceremony held on Wednesday, Chairman NTC, Brig (Retd) Viqar Rashid Khan said this initiative would enable the NTC to ensure modern fiber based quality telecom services to residents in DHA IslamabadRawalpindi on affordable rates.
The ceremony was attended by Administrator DHA, Brig. Qaisar Shahzad and Chief Executive Officer DHA Telecom, Lt. Col (Retd) Farrukh Nawaz, Director General Technical NTC, Miraj Gul and other senior officials.
Lt. Col (Retd) Farrukh Nawaz and Miraj Gul inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Highlighting the other initiatives taken during last one year, the Chairman said NTC has undertaken a project to establish National Data Centre which is expected to be completed by August this year.
He said NDC project with cloud computing facilities is being deployed as IT and Telecom needs of Federal government departments would be fulfilled in this state-of-the-art NDC.
Moreover, he said NTC’s presence is being expanded with more coverage in district level and its telecom network has been expanded at six districts of Sindh and six districts of Balochistan.
NTC is also in process of replacing its legacy TDM exchanges to next generation IP based exchanges, he added. A phase-wise implementation is under progress.
He said a call centre and Fault Management System has been deployed to facilitate NTC subscribers availing NTC telephone and DSL services.
Regarding NTC and DHA partnership, Viqar Rashid said his priority is to make NTC a profitable organization and added that continuous efforts during last three years a number of projects have been introduced to meet modern needs.
He said this agreement is also one of those steps which will make NTC reach its subscribers through state-of-the-art GPON network (FTTH) which will not only provide unmatched conventional voice & data service but also ensure Video Phone service. In his comments, Administrator DHA, Brig. Qaisar Shahzad thanked NTC for the cooperation and said the new initiative would definitely ensure quality and affordable services in DHA.
