Na­tion should unite against ter­ror­ism: Rehman Ma­lik

ISLAMABAD —Pak­istan Peo­ples Party (PPP) Sen­a­tor Rehman A Ma­lik on Wed­nes­day urged the na­tion to unite and forge unity among its ranks to fight ter­ror­ism and ex­trem­ism.Talk­ing to re­porters here, Rehman Ma­lik said ter­ror­ism was ma­jor is­sue and it should be ad­dressed unit­edly with de­ter­mi­na­tion.

He added that In­dia was in­volved in anti-Pak­istan ac­tiv­i­ties. Rehman Ma­lik lauded the Pak­istan Army on suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of op­er­a­tion in Shawal.—APP ISLAMABAD—Na­tional Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tion Cor­po­ra­tion (NTC) would pro­vide triple play voice and broad­band ser­vices to De­fense Hous­ing Au­thor­ity Islamabad-Rawalpindi. At an agree­ment sign­ing cer­e­mony held on Wed­nes­day, Chair­man NTC, Brig (Retd) Viqar Rashid Khan said this ini­tia­tive would en­able the NTC to en­sure mod­ern fiber based qual­ity tele­com ser­vices to res­i­dents in DHA Is­lam­abadRawalpindi on af­ford­able rates.

The cer­e­mony was at­tended by Ad­min­is­tra­tor DHA, Brig. Qaisar Shahzad and Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer DHA Tele­com, Lt. Col (Retd) Far­rukh Nawaz, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Tech­ni­cal NTC, Mi­raj Gul and other se­nior of­fi­cials.

Lt. Col (Retd) Far­rukh Nawaz and Mi­raj Gul inked the agree­ment on be­half of their re­spec­tive or­ga­ni­za­tions. High­light­ing the other ini­tia­tives taken dur­ing last one year, the Chair­man said NTC has un­der­taken a project to es­tab­lish Na­tional Data Cen­tre which is ex­pected to be com­pleted by Au­gust this year.

He said NDC project with cloud com­put­ing fa­cil­i­ties is be­ing de­ployed as IT and Tele­com needs of Fed­eral gov­ern­ment de­part­ments would be ful­filled in this state-of-the-art NDC.

More­over, he said NTC’s pres­ence is be­ing ex­panded with more cov­er­age in district level and its tele­com net­work has been ex­panded at six dis­tricts of Sindh and six dis­tricts of Balochis­tan.

NTC is also in process of re­plac­ing its legacy TDM ex­changes to next gen­er­a­tion IP based ex­changes, he added. A phase-wise im­ple­men­ta­tion is un­der progress.

He said a call cen­tre and Fault Man­age­ment Sys­tem has been de­ployed to fa­cil­i­tate NTC sub­scribers avail­ing NTC tele­phone and DSL ser­vices.

Re­gard­ing NTC and DHA part­ner­ship, Viqar Rashid said his pri­or­ity is to make NTC a prof­itable or­ga­ni­za­tion and added that con­tin­u­ous ef­forts dur­ing last three years a num­ber of projects have been in­tro­duced to meet mod­ern needs.

He said this agree­ment is also one of those steps which will make NTC reach its sub­scribers through state-of-the-art GPON net­work (FTTH) which will not only pro­vide un­matched con­ven­tional voice & data ser­vice but also en­sure Video Phone ser­vice. In his com­ments, Ad­min­is­tra­tor DHA, Brig. Qaisar Shahzad thanked NTC for the co­op­er­a­tion and said the new ini­tia­tive would def­i­nitely en­sure qual­ity and af­ford­able ser­vices in DHA.
