Governor calls for use of Govt funds judiciously
DG Audit present report to Ishratul Ebad
KARACHI—Director General (DG) Audit Sindh, Siraj Mustafa Jokhio, called on Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan, here on Wednesday at Governor House. He presented Audit Report of fiscal year 2014-15 to the Governor.
He informed the Governor Sindh about the working of his Department in-detail and also briefed him about the audit report of various provincial gov- ernment departments and ‘wrong doings mentioned in the report in seven categories.’
He informed that as many as 325 audit paras were made in the audit of 35 provincial Government departments. Governor Sindh said, ‘with the audit shortcomings and wrongdoings of provincial departments are exposed.’
While, lauding the performance of audit department, he said that with their endeavors good governance and transparency is being ensured. He said that development funds belong to the masses and to ensure their transparency and just use is the responsibility of all officers concerned.
He said that without the process of accountability no society can move forward. It is a continuous process and should be kept running, he said and added that the wrongdoings, when and where witnessed should be pointed out and suggestions should be made to eradicate the same.
Dr. Ebad further said that the percentage of usage of Government funds tends to increase with nearing of fiscal year ending which should be monitored closely to ensure fair play. The DG Audit further informed that Auditor General Pakistan has delegated powers to his department to physically monitor the development projects of all the provincial departments.
Principal Secretary to Governor Muhammad Hussain Syed and Director Audit Sindh Mujahid Ali Shaikh were also present on the occasion.
