PAC urges Qaim to sack VCs of the uni­ver­si­ties

KARACHI—Public Ac­counts Com­mit­tee (PAC) of Sindh Assem­bly asked Chief Min­is­ter Sindh to sack Vice Chan­cel­lors of Shah Ab­dul Latif Univer­sity (SALU) Khair­pur and Quaid-e-Awam Univer­sity of En­gi­neer­ing, Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy (QUEST) Nawab­shah over not at­tend­ing the PAC meet­ing.

Chair­man PAC, Saleem Raza Jal­bani said this while chair­ing the meet­ing held here at Assem­bly Build­ing, on Thurs­day. “The re­peated di­rec­tions is­sued to re­spec­tive VCs to ap­pear in the meet­ing but they did not at­tend it”, he said. The PAC meet­ing was con­vened to set­tle au­dit para of ir­reg­u­lar pay­ments of med­i­cal al­lowance made by re­spec­tive uni­ver­si­ties to their of­fi­cers and other staff.

This was the third meet­ing but VCs did not take in­ter­est to at­tend as the is­sue of para au­dit was to set­tled, he said. “We are rec­om­mend­ing to the Chief Min­is­ter for re­mov­ing them from their seats im­me­di­ately and spe­cial ac­tion should also be taken against them for not com­ply­ing with the di­rec­tives of the com­mit­tee.”, Jal­bani said.

The au­dit Para of Sukkur In­sti­tute of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion (IBA) Sukkur was set­tled in the meet­ing. Mem­bers of the Com­mit­tee, Sar­dar Ali Shah, Nand Ku­mar, So­rath and other PAC staff at­tended the meet­ing.—APP
