PAC urges Qaim to sack VCs of the universities
KARACHI—Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Sindh Assembly asked Chief Minister Sindh to sack Vice Chancellors of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur and Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) Nawabshah over not attending the PAC meeting.
Chairman PAC, Saleem Raza Jalbani said this while chairing the meeting held here at Assembly Building, on Thursday. “The repeated directions issued to respective VCs to appear in the meeting but they did not attend it”, he said. The PAC meeting was convened to settle audit para of irregular payments of medical allowance made by respective universities to their officers and other staff.
This was the third meeting but VCs did not take interest to attend as the issue of para audit was to settled, he said. “We are recommending to the Chief Minister for removing them from their seats immediately and special action should also be taken against them for not complying with the directives of the committee.”, Jalbani said.
The audit Para of Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur was settled in the meeting. Members of the Committee, Sardar Ali Shah, Nand Kumar, Sorath and other PAC staff attended the meeting.—APP
