Islamabad po­lice to be made smart force: IGP

ISLAMABAD—In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice Tariq Ma­sood Yasin on Thurs­day called for mak­ing Islamabad po­lice as ‘SMART’ po­lice force which is Strict and Sen­si­tive, Mod­ern and Mo­bile, Alert and Ac­count­able, Re­li­able and Re­spon­sive; Techno-savvy and Trained.

Dur­ing his visit to var­i­ous sec­tions and po­lice bar­racks at Po­lice Line Head­quar­ters, the IGP said that Islamabad po­lice would be made ‘SMART’ po­lice and its en­tire sys­tem and record would be IT based. He said that peo­ple would be fa­cil­i­tated through the use of mod­ern tech­nol­ogy and more re­spon­si­ble po­lice cul­ture to be en­sured through timely re­sponse or feed­back to cit­i­zens on their com­plaints. The IGP re­newed his com­mit­ment to en­sure pro­tec­tion to the lives and prop­erty of the cit­i­zens and that his doors are open for the peo­ple who may visit him for re­dress­ing their is­sues .

He also di­rected po­lice of­fi­cials in­clud­ing Sta­tion House Of­fi­cers (SHOs) to en­sure their pres­ence in of­fices and re­solve public com­plaints. The IGP also vowed to re­solve the com­plaints of po­lice em­ploy­ees and en­sure steps for their wel­fare.

He also fixed Wed­nes­day of each week to lis­ten to the prob­lems of po­lice em­ploy­ees and as­sured to re­solve their pro­fes­sional is­sues on im­me­di­ate ba­sis.—INP
