Third day of national cycling belonged to Railways
LAHORE—The third day of the national cycling championship belonged to Pakistan Railways riders who won both the events, one road and one track, to earn two gold medals here on Thursday.Railways ace rider Haq Nawaz showed prowess and undying zeal to win the most toughest event of the premier activity, the 100 kilometres road scratch race held at DHA Phase-VI Raya road.
He defied adverse hot weather conditions and a strong challenge from Punjab and Balcohsitan cyclists to emerge victorious returning a timing of 2H:56M:06S. He showed great anticipation and courage to touch the finish line with visible lead. Nasir Ali of Punjab and Kashif Bashir of Sindh took the second and third place respectively.
Railways riders proved their dominance at the track as well when its team comprising Haq Nawaz, Abu Bakkar, Asher and Zameer won the 4 kilometre team pursuit at the cycling velodrome.
Haq Nawaz continued to underline his cycling talent by playing a vital role in his teams success as Railways riders took 40M:08S:42P to claim their second gold of the day.—APP
