NAB com­mit­ted to erad­i­cate cor­rup­tion with zero tol­er­ance pol­icy: DG

KARACHI—Di­rec­tor Gen­eral, Na­tional Ac­count­abil­ity Bureau (NAB), Karachi, Lt. Col (R) Si­raj ul Naeem has said that NAB is com­mit­ted to erad­i­cate cor­rup­tion by adopt­ing zero tol­er­ance pol­icy across un­der the lead­er­ship of Chair­man, NAB, Qa­mar Za­man Chaudhry. He was ad­dress­ing Anti-Cor­rup­tion Sem­i­nar for Ex­e­cut­ing and Im­ple­ment­ing agen­cies, said a press re­lease. The sem­i­nar was or­ga­nized by Asian Devel­op­ment bank (ADB) at a lo­cal ho­tel, here on Thurs­day. In his ad­dress dur­ing “Say No to Cor­rup­tion” ses­sion, he said that NAB is de­ter­mined to erad­i­cate cor­rup­tion through aware­ness, preven­tion and en­force­ment ini­tia­tives. He said NAB- Karachi is tak­ing pre­ven­tive mea­sures through for­ma­tion of preven­tion com­mit­tees.

He in­formed that Rs. 5,046 mil­lion were re­cov­ered by NAB from HESCO de­fault­ers, till April 21. DG, NAB, Karachi, Lt. Col (R) Si­raj ul Naeem fur­ther stated that af­ter the ap­point­ment of Chaudhry Qa­mar Za­man as a chair­man, the or­ga­ni­za­tion have be­come more ef­fi­cient, be­cause of his ef­forts. Fresh SOPs were for­mu­lated hav­ing strict time­lines to process any case. This ini­tia­tive made NAB one of the most ef­fi­ca­cious and pro­duc­tive Anti-Cor­rup­tion Agen­cies, both na­tion­ally and in­ter­na­tion­ally. He said that NAB Karachi is uti­liz­ing all its re­sources to make cor­rupts ac­count­able. An in­ter­ac­tive ques­tion and an­swer ses­sion was con­ducted by DG NAB. He em­pha­sized the del­e­gates to en­sure ev­ery penny given for public is spent for the cause. He ap­pre­ci­ated ADB for con­duct of sem­i­nar in or­der to aware peo­ple about the ef­fects of cor­rup­tion. photo
