KP to move ju­di­ciary to block Ku­mar no­ti­fi­ca­tion

MPAs de­cline to ac­cept al­leged mur­derer as leg­is­la­tor

PE­SHAWAR— KP Chief Min­is­ter Pervez Khat­tak has said that the pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment is go­ing to move ju­di­ciary to block the is­suance of the no­ti­fi­ca­tion of Baldev Ku­mar, the al­leged mur­derer of Dr. Sar­dar So­ran Singh as mem­ber Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa As­sem­bly by the Elec­tion Com­mis­sion.

Speak­ing on the floor of the pro­vin­cial as­sem­bly dur­ing con­do­lence ref­er­ence on late PTI MPA Dr. Sar­dar So­ran Singh, the chief min­is­ter said that he had con­sulted the Sec­re­tary Law in this re­gard. He said that clear­ance from the court they will not ac­cept him as mem­ber of the house.

He said that on com­ing Mon­day, they will file pe­ti­tion in the court and will ap­peal it to stop the is­suance of his no­ti­fi­ca­tion as mem­ber of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa. He told the house that the In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice ( IGP) has said that case of the al­leged mur­derer, Baldev Ku­mar will be pre­ceded by the An­tiTer­ror­ism Court ( ATC).

The chief min­is­ter while pay­ing trib­ute to late Spe­cial As­sis­tant said that Sar­dar So­ran Singh was an as­set of the Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa As­sem­bly. He said that man­ner through which he was killed is unimag­in­able. He said that he had con­demned the mur­der of Sar­dar So­ran Singh sev­eral times and has also vis­ited dis­trict two times in this re­gard.

He said that dur­ing last three years sev­eral of their par­lia­men­tary col­leagues be­comes vic­tims of ter­ror­ism, but the case of Sar­dar So­ran Singh is of unique na­ture. He said that due to his good per­for­mance and friendly na­ture late So­ran Singh have turned all peo­ple into his friends and the vac­uum cre­ated due to his mur­der will be felt for long.

The chief min­is­ter said that late Sar­dar So­ran Singh was be­long­ing to a poor fam­ily and as­sured that the pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ment will an­nounce re­lief pack­age for the be­reaved fam­ily within next three to four days. The house later also ob­served one- minute si­lence to pay homage to late Sar­dar So­ran Singh. Mean­while, Mem­bers of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa As­sem­bly Fri­day vowed not to ac­cept Baldev Ku­mar, the al­leged mur­derer of PTI leg­is­la­tor Sar­dar So­ran Singh as mem­ber of the pro­vin­cial as­sem­bly and threat­ened boy­cott the ad­min­is­ter­ing of his oath in the house.

The mem­bers of Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa As­sem­bly were ad­dress­ing a con­do­lence ref­er­ence of the pro­vin­cial as­sem­bly to mourn the death of their mi­nor­ity col­league. The ses­sion of the of­fi­cially sum­moned ses­sion of the house be­gan pro­ceed­ings with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair. The day was re­served for pay­ing homage to the late mi­nor­ity leg­is­la­tor.

The mem­bers of the house have also com- mended the per­for­mance of DIG Malakand Re­gion Azad Khan and DPO Buner, Khalid Hamdani for ap­pre­hend­ing the al­leged mur­der­ers in the pe­riod of 48 hours and have de­manded the con­fer­ring of awards on them. Fur­ther­more, the leg­is­la­tors have also de­manded the an­nounce­ment of a re­lief pack­age for his fam­ily.
