In­dia to serve no­tice on those named in Panama Pa­pers

NEW DELHI— The In­dian Gov­ern­ment is tak­ing ac­tion against those whose names ap­peared in Panama Pa­pers.

“The gov­ern­ment is tak­ing all nec­es­sary steps on the is­sue of tax eva­sion and no­tice is be­ing served on those whose names fig­ure in the Panama Pa­pers leaks”, In­dian Fi­nance Min­is­ter Arun Jait­ley said in the Lok Sabha on Fri­day.

The min­is­ter’s state­ment came dur­ing ques­tion hour when mem­bers, in­clud­ing Nana Pa­tole and Kirit So­mi­aya and B. Mahtab asked sup­ple­men­tary on the tax eva­sion is­sue.

Mr. Jait­ley, how­ever, told the mem­bers that any in­di­vid­ual case could not be dis­cussed in the house. — Agen­cies
