CPEC to turn Pak­istan into mod­ern in­dus­trial econ­omy: Ah­san

OB­SERVER RE­PORT BEI­JING— Min­is­ter for Plan­ning, De­vel­op­ment and Re­forms, Ah­san Iqbal on Fri­day said that real tar­get of Chi­naPak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor ( CPEC) ini­tia­tive was to turn Pak­istan into a mod­ern in­dus­trial econ­omy.

Ad­dress­ing a con­fer­ence of Chi­nese in­vestors jointly or­ga­nized by China’s Na­tional De­vel­op­ment and Re­forms Com­mis­sion and Pak­istan Mis­sion, in Bei­jing, he said that Pak­istan was an at­trac­tive in­vest­ment place for Chi­nese busi­ness­men. The Chi­nese in­vestors could bring about far- reach­ing re­sults by ini­ti­at­ing joint ven­tures of Paki- stani busi­ness­men.

He said that 200 mil­lion pop­u­la­tion, out of which twothird was youth, and busi­ness friendly poli­cies, bet­ter se­cu­rity and eco­nomic sit­u­a­tion were at­trac­tive for the in­vestors. Pak­istan, he said wanted to en­hance pro­duc­tion ca­pa­bil­ity in agri­cul­ture and in­dus­trial sec­tors by use of tech­nol­ogy.

He in­formed that 10,000MW sur­plus elec­tric­ity would be avail­able by year 2018, adding, mod­ern com­mu­ni­ca­tion in­fra­struc­ture would be con­structed. Ah­san Iqbal said that Pak­istan’s econ­omy was flour­ish­ing dur­ing the last three years. He said that there was com­plete political sta­bil­ity in Pak­istan.
