Call off strike

The Ir­ri­ga­tion Trade Unions Fed­er­a­tion Sindh Satur­day an­nounced to call off the strike fol­low­ing as­sur­ance from Com­mis­sioner Hy­der­abad Qazi Shahid Pervez and MNA Ka­mal Khan Chang that all gen­uine de­mands of the fed­er­a­tion would be re­solved am­i­ca­bly. The de­ci­sion of call­ing off the strike has been made in the meet­ing with the rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the fed­er­a­tion here at Shah­baz Hall, which con­vened on the di­rec­tive of Sindh Chief Min­is­ter Syed Qaim Ali Shah. The Com­mis­sioner as­sured that Sindh Ir­ri­ga­tion Sec­re­tary and other quar­ters would be ap­proached for grant­ing of time scale pro­mo­tions to Ir­ri­ga­tion em­ploy­ees, ap­point­ment of em­ploy­ees’ chil­dren un­der son quota, reg­u­lar­iza­tion of con­tract em­ploy­ees of LBOD and RBOD pro­jects. He called upon them to avoid strike in or­der to save the agri­cul­ture fields of grow­ers which could be de­stroyed be­cause of sus­pen­sion of wa­ter for cul­ti­va­tion. He as­sured full sup­port to fed­er­a­tion in ad­dress­ing of their gen­uine de­mands.
