Hajj-2016: Min­istry to con­sti­tute EMS for han­dling emer­gency

ISLAMABAD—The Min­istry of Re­li­gious Af­fairs and Inter faith Har­mony has fi­nalised a plan to es­tab­lish an Emer­gency Man­age­ment Sys­tem (EMS) to han­dle emer­gency sit­u­a­tions dur­ing Hajj-2016.

Ac­cord­ing to Hajj Pol­icy 2106,the EMS would help in tack­ling Mina stam­pede like situation. The de­tailed stan­dard op­er­at­ing pro­ce­dures (SOPs)/ guide­lines of EMS are be­ing pre­pared right now. The guide­lines for EMS would be is­sued soon in con­sul­ta­tion with the Saudi au­thor­i­ties.

The min­istry would con­sti­tute Emer­gency Re­sponse Team (ERT) to cope with emer­gency. Di­rec­tor General (Hajj) of­fice of Pil­grims Af­fairs will head the ERT.

The mem­bers in­cluded Joint Sec­re­tary (Hajj) Min­istry of Re­li­gious Af­fairs and In­ter­faith Har­mony, Di­rec­tor Wel­fare Staff Moavi­neen or his sec­ond in com­mand, Di­rec­tor Wel­fare (Med­i­cal) or his sec­ond in com­mand, Di­rec­tor Fa­cil­i­ta­tion and Co­or­di­na­tion or his vice, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Am­bas­sador of Pak­istan in King­dom of Saudi Ara­bia (KSA), Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of Hajj Group Or­ga­niz­ers As­so­ci­a­tion of Pak­istan would be its mem­bers.
