Pakistan Observer - - KASHMIR -

SRINAGAR—Terming the curbs placed on the religious and political activities of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Dr. Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who has once again been placed under house arrest, as yet another clear example of state highhandedness and dictatorial attitude of the government, an APHC statement Saturday strongly condemned these undemocratic means adopted by the rulers to curb the legitimate activities of the Mirwaiz.

According to the APHC statement, the Hurriyat Chairman, who had to address a Seerat conference at Nasrullahpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district was placed under house arrest by the state administration early Saturday morning and thus stopped from participating in a religious programme.—Email
