PESHA WAR—Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Monday bulldozed questions regarding nepotism and favouritism in the distribution of grantinaid in mosques and seminaries. In arguments in favour of his questions, Maulana Fazal Ghafoor of JUIF criticized the distribution of grantinaid on political basis and asked the Provincial Minister for Auqaf for telling criteria for such distri- bution. He said that no mosque in his constituency was provided the grant and plead for referring his question to the concerned standing committee of the house.

But, on the other hand, the Jamaate-Islami ( JI) affiliated Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Haji Habibur-Rehman rejected the allegations and said that from 300 to 350 seminaries have been provided the fund in a transparent manner and ruled out the ignoring of any district in this regard. However, he said that he cannot do anything in case of not receiving any application.

The JUIF MPA expressed dissatisfaction over the answer and demanded of the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, who was also present in the house to direct conducting inquiry into the distribution of the funds of Auqaf Department for political purpose.—
