She­hbaz terms poi­sonous sweets deaths as big tragedy

LA­HORE— Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Muham­mad She­hbaz Sharif went to Chak 105/ ML, Layyah on Mon­day and met the fam­i­lies of the per­sons who died due to poi­soned sweet­meat. He ex­pressed sor­row and grief over the tragedy and also of­fered Fateha for the de­parted souls. The Chief Min­is­ter went to houses of the vic­tims one by one and ex­pressed sym­pa­thies and con­do­lence with them.

He also in­quired from them the de­tails of the in­ci­dent. He ex­pressed con­do­lence with the head of the fam­ily of which 13 mem­bers had died Umar Hayat as well as Nasir Bibi, Muham­mad Nazir, Bushra Perveen, Fa­tima Bibi, Zahida Bibi, Muham­mad Sid­dique, Salma Bibi, Hamida Bibi, Az­mat Bibi, Faiz Muham­mad, Ri­asat Ali, Shakir Ali, Muham­mad Nawaz, Rehmat Ali, Muham­mad Niaz, Kal­soom Bibi, Muham­mad Ak­bar and Maq­bool Hus­sain.

Talk­ing to the af­fectees, the Chief Min­is­ter said that every­one is grieved over this tragedy. He said that his sym­pa­thies as well as that of Pun­jab gov­ern­ment are with the be­reaved fam­i­lies. He said that Prime Min­is­ter Muham­mad Nawaz Sharif has also ex­pressed his sor­row and grief and sym­pa­thized with the af­fected per­sons.

He said that Prime Min­is­ter as well as the whole na­tion is shocked over the loss of 30 in­no­cent and pre­cious hu­man lives and he has come to share their grief on be­half of Prime Min­is­ter Muham­mad Nawaz Sharif.

He said that the mar­tyr­dom of 30 per­sons due to poi­soned sweet­meat is a tragedy. She­hbaz Sharif said that Prime Min­is­ter has spe­cially sent him to con­dole with the af­fected fam­i­lies. He said that Prime Min­is­ter is also grieved over this in­ci­dent. He said that no ef­fort will be spared for pro­vid­ing jus­tice to the ag­grieved per­sons.

The Chief Min­is­ter an­nounced provision of jobs to the mem­bers of the fam­i­lies of the vic­tims and said that Pun­jab gov­ern­ment will take all pos- sible care of them. He said that though the de­ceased per­sons can­not be brought back but he will do ev­ery­thing pos­si­ble for their fam­i­lies. He said that an in­quiry is be­ing con­ducted into the tragic in­ci­dent and it is his prom­ise to them that stern le­gal ac­tion will be taken against the per­sons re­spon­si­ble for neg­li­gence.

He said that com­plete jus­tice will be pro­vided to the fam­i­lies of the vic­tims. He said that ac­tion will also be taken against the per­sons who poi­soned sweet­meat and they will not be able to es­cape pun­ish­ment. She­hbaz Sharif while con­sol­ing the af­fectees said that he will again visit them af­ter ar­rival of the in­quiry re­port and take mea­sures to meet the de­mands of jus­tice.

He as­sured that if there was any neg­li­gence on the part of ad­min­is­tra­tion or in the treat­ment of the vic­tims, it will also come into light in this re­port and the per­sons re­spon­si­ble will not be spared. He said that the needs of the area will also be met on pri­or­ity ba­sis.
