PFM moot unique op­por­tu­nity for ac­coun­tancy pro­fes­sion­als

ISLAMABAD— Pres­i­dent In­sti­tute of Char­ter Ac­coun­tants of Pak­istan ( ICAP), Hafiz Mo­ham­mad Yousaf has said that the Pub­lic Fi­nan­cial Man­age­ment ( PFM) Con­fer­ence presents a unique op­por­tu­nity to the ac­coun­tancy pro­fes­sion of the coun­try bring­ing to­gether lead­ers and in­no­va­tors. “We will con­tinue our sup­port to the pub­lic sec­tor and this con­fer­ence is a plat­form to dis­cuss the chal­lenges and de­bate so­lu­tions for en­sur­ing im­prove­ments in pub­lic sec­tor”, he said this, while adress­ing the sec­ond Pub­lic Fi­nan­cial man­age­ment ( PFM) Con­fer­ence or­ga­nized by ICAP in col­lob­o­ra­tion with Char­tered In­sti­tute of pub­lic Fi­nance and Ac­coun­tancy ( CIPFA) here on Mon­day.

The theme of the con­fer­ence ‘ PEM for Ser­vice De­liv­ery’ brought to­gether a wealth of ex­pert speak­ers from Pak­istan and abroad to de­bate and dis­cuss the role of fi­nance as strate­gic de­ci­sion mak­ers and busi­ness part­ners. The chair­man of the or­ga­niz­ing com­mit­tee, Coun­cil mem­ber ICAP Rashid Ibrahim high­lighted the theme of PFM con­fer­ence and the rec­om­men­da­tion emerged from that con­fer­ence. He said PFIM is essen­tial for bet­ter man­age­ment, scru­tiny, spend­ing and re­lated stake­hold­ers. Bet­ter PFM will present much needed boost to the econ­omy.

Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Au­dit, KPK Muham­mad Fa­heem in his pre­sen­ta­tion said that PFM makes stake­hold­ers con­cen­trate on trans­parency and risk man­age­ment. He also high­lighted the other ben­e­fits and fu­ture of PFM in­cluded im­prove­ments in in­for­ma­tion an­a­lyt­ics for in­formed de­ci­sion mak­ing, in­creased IT gov­er­nance, con­tin­ued ef­fi­ciency im­prove­ments in in­fras­truc­ture and keep­ing the mo­men­tum of of­fer­ing in­no­va­tive prod­ucts and ser­vices pa­per­less busi­ness pro­cesses.— APP
