Need stressed for standardised training modules to enhance operational capacity of 1122

RAWALPINDI— A daylong training seminar in order to standardize training module as per operational dictates was organized at Emergency Services Academy ( ESA).
The Director General Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, Brig. ( R) Dr. Arshad Zia and Director General Emergency Services Academy, Rescue 1122, Brig. ( R) Amir Hamza jointly chaired the seminar which was attended by Reg- istrar Academy Dr. Muhammad Farhan Khalid, Regional Emergency Officers ( North and South) Mian Riffat Zia and Dr. Zaffar Shah, District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi Dr. Abdur Rehman, DEO Bahawalpur Dr. Abid Rahim Channar, DEO Sargodha Dr. Mazhar Shah, DEO Sialkot Syed Kamal Abid, DEO RY Khan Dr. Abdul Staar Babar, other officers and faculty members of the Academy, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.
DEO Sialkot presented detailed review of 16- week long Basic Training Course, followed by presentation by DEO Rawalpindi on Mountain Rescue Course while DEO Rahim Yar Khan presented a detailed overview, suggestions and recommendations about development of short courses for industries and other organizations.
Brig. ( R) Amir Hamza addressing the workshop said in consultation with Director General Rescue 1122, the Academy has reduced duration of Basic Training Course from 6 to 4 months in order to meet the challenge posed by rapid expansion of Service to Tehsil level and replication of the Emergency Management Model in other provinces.
He said, Emergency Paramedical, Search and Rescue, Fire, Wireless Communication and IT, Boat Operations and Physical Fitness Training and other courses have been incorporated in Basic Training Course, which has been developed on international guidelines.
He said, it was need of the hour to standardize training modules to enhance operational capacity of the Service and to fulfill promotional criteria for welfare of rescue personnel.
Brig. Amir Hamza said, theoretical training being imparted to rescue cadets in ESA and later they are sent to Murree where they go through practical demonstration for mountain rescue, fall from height and to evacuate trapped victims inside the vehicles fallen from the height.
DG Rescue 1122 said that his top priority was to get service structure implemented on earliest thus opening the channel of promotion and welfare of the rescuers.
He said Rescue 1122 will provide all kinds of assistance to the Academy for capacity building and enhancing their training skills. He also assured the DEO Rawalpindi that he will be provided all kind of assistance for training of Rescuers at Murree.
