Di­a­logue on World Hu­man­i­tar­ian Sum­mit held

IS­LAM­ABAD—A Round Ta­ble con­sul­ta­tion di­a­logue was or­gan­ised by Na­tional Disas­ter Man­age­ment Author­ity (NDMA) Wed­nes­day in col­lab­o­ra­tion with UN OCHA and Em­bassy of Repub­lic of Turkey as a pre­lude to first-ever World Hu­man­i­tar­ian Sum­mit (WHS) planned to be held in May 2016 at Is­tan­bul, Turkey un­der the aus­pices of United Na­tions.

Renowned per­son­al­i­ties in the field of hu­man­i­tar­ian af­fairs from Govern­ment De­part­ments, UN Agen­cies, For­eign Mis­sions, Donor Agen­cies, Civil So­ci­ety, Phi­lan­thropist Or­ga­ni­za­tions par­tic­i­pated in the event. The World Hu­man­i­tar­ian Sum­mit (WHS) is an ini­tia­tive of the United Na­tions Sec­re­taryGen­eral to forge new part­ner­ships and find bet­ter ways to meet hu­man­i­tar­ian needs.

The Sum­mit aims at rein­spir­ing and rein­vig­o­rat­ing com­mit­ment to hu­man­ity, ini­ti­ate set of con­crete ac­tions and com­mit­ments for bet­ter prepa­ra­tion and re­sponse and share in­no­va­tions and best prac­tices that can help save lives around the world.

Pak­istan, as a Mem­ber State, with a cred­i­ble stand­ing in hu­man­i­tar­ian crises man­age­ment is ac­tively par­tic­i­pat­ing in WHS to ex­plore op­por­tu­nity for Pak­istan to show­case the achieve­ments for Global view­er­ship and shar­ing of best prac­tices in the do­main of disas­ter man­age­ment/hu­man­i­tar­ian re­sponse.

NDMA will also be host­ing a side event in the form of Sem­i­nar with theme “Reach­ing Peo­ple in Need; Pak­istan’s Ex­pe­ri­ence”, an Ex­hi­bi­tion Fair and In­no­va­tive Mar­ket­place dur­ing the Sum­mit in Turkey, said a press re­lease.
