Res­cue 1122 com­mem­o­rates Int’l Fire­fight­ers Day

PRIZE dis­tri­bu­tion cer­e­mony amongst the top most Huf­faz of the age of ten years or be­low will be held on Thurs­day 5th May 2016 at 11am, in Quaid-e-Azam Au­di­to­rium of In­ter­na­tional Is­lamic Univer­sity, Faisal Masjid, Is­lam­abad. Sardar Muham­mad Yousaf, Fed­eral Min­is­ter for Re­li­gious Af­fairs will be the chief guest and Ab­dul­lah Mar­zouk AlZahrani Am­bas­sador of Saudi Ara­bia will pre­side over the cer­e­mony. RAWALPINDI—The Pun­jab Emer­gency Ser­vice (PES), Res­cue 1122 Wed­nes­day com­mem­o­rated ‘In­ter­na­tional Fire­fight­ers Day’ all over the prov­ince and all the Dis­trict Emer­gency Of­fi­cers (DEOs) on the di­rec­tions of Di­rec­tor Gen­eral (DG) PES, Brig. (R) Dr. Ar­shad Zia. Sem­i­nars, aware­ness ac­tiv­i­ties and other events in re­mem­brance of mar­tyred fire­fight­ers of Res­cue 1122 were held.

DG Emer­gency Ser­vices Academy (ESA) Brig. (R) Amir Hamza also ar­ranged spe­cial­ized lec­tures for un­der train­ing cadets in ESA, says a press re­lease is­sued here on Wed­nes­day.

The ex­perts in the field of fire­fight­ing de­liv­ered lec­tures about the im­por­tance of the day, mod­ern trends in fire­fight­ing, role and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of fire­fight­ers in case of any un­to­ward in­ci­dent. Mock ex­er­cises re­lated to fire­fight­ing and res­cu­ing vic­tims from col­lapsed struc­ture were also or­ga­nized.

DG Res­cue 1122 and DG ESA re­ceived Flag March com­pris­ing of fire ve­hi­cles in­clud­ingAe­rial Plat­forms, Turn Ta­ble Lad­ders, Fire In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit and oth­ers at Res­cue 1122 Head­quar­ters.

Brig. (R) Dr. Ar­shad Zia, Brig. (R) Amir Hamza and other se­nior of­fi­cers par­tic­i­pated in the flag march and aware­ness walk.

Ad­dress­ing the par­tic­i­pants, Brig. (R) Amir Hamza said that PES has es­tab­lished mod­ern Fire Ser­vice and Disas­ter Emer­gency Re­sponse teams in the coun­try in lim­ited re­sources on mod­ern line and rescuers have been trained with lat­est equip­ment and ve­hi­cles in ESA to main­tain in­ter­na­tional stan­dard. He said trained rescuers of Res­cue 1122 are trend set­ters in the field of pro­fes­sional fire­fight­ing in Pak­istan.

Dr. Ar­shad Zia paid rich trib­ute to the ser­vices of those fire­fight­ers, who sac­ri­ficed their lives. He said fire­fight­ers are the real he­roes of the so­ci­ety and fire­fight­ing is a no­ble pro­fes­sion.

Res­cue 1122 Rawalpindi also con­ducted an event to pay trib­ute to the fire fighters and show sol­i­dar­ity with in­ter­na­tional fire­fight­ers who take risk to pro­vide sense of safety to the community. Ms Deeba Shah­naz, Emer­gency of­fi­cer Head­quar­ters, Engr. Hafiz Ab­dul Rasheed Emer­gency Of­fi­cer, Res­cue Safety Of­fi­cer Ms Azra shahid, Asif Salyana Con­trol Room In­charge, All Sta­tion Co­or­di­na­tors, Rescuers and fire fighters par­tic­i­pated in the event. An aware­ness walk was ar­ranged to sen­si­tize the community. The fire rescuers and other res­cue of­fi­cials clothed in fire suits stand­ing on fire ve­hi­cles raised slo­gans of fire safety.

The fire­fight­ers per­formed ex­ten­sion drill of Aerial lad­der to check the op­er­a­tion ac­tiv­ity with re­spect to high rise build­ing. The rescuers also paid homage to the great he­roes of the na­tion who laid their lives in line of the duty.
