Pakistan Observer - - NATIONAL -

MULTAN—President Mamnoon Hussain has said the federal and provincial governments are paying attention to provision of better healthcare facilities to the people. Inaugurating Bakhtawar Ameen Medical and Dental College in Multan on Thursday he however said ensuring healthcare facilities to the people particularly in far-flung areas is a gigantic task. The government is working towards this end but responsibility also rests with other segments of the society to join hands in the endeavour to provide better health-care facilities to the people at their doorsteps.

He said that government was committed to extend all possible facilities of health to masses at their doorsteps. Issues of health are too complicated to be resolved by government itself and it needed support from corporate sector also in this regard. The President also emphasized the need for launching special campaigns in order to raise awareness amongst the people against contagious diseases.

Mamnoon Hussain said medical colleges should promote the culture of research and enhance collaboration with world institutions to introduce best practices in their institutions. President asked the doctors to respect the time of other people and should not waste their time intentionally. Referring to the development projects, the President said the government is maintaining a balance in the development of all the sectors.

President suggested that the whole primary education should be handed over to women in country, adding that the women could educate children with great care. President said Education Minister Engineer Balighur Rehman should move forward his suggestion, adding that if the primary education will be handed over to women it will be beneficial for country. President said that the religion teaches us to make balance between the things.

He said it is wrong that the priority of government is not education but metro bus. He said the criticism of opponents of government over the metro bus project is wrong. He said people could educate their children while saving money through making journey on metro bus. He said system of merit should be promoted in country. Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana, Federal Minister for Food Security Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan Boson and others were also present in the ceremony.—SABAH
