Govt extends due cooperation to EC: PM
MIRPUR (AJK),—The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Ch Abdul Majeed has said that his government was fully cooperating with Election Commission (EC) of the State for holding free, fair and transparent general elections in AJK due to be held this year.
Talking to a public delegation at prime minister secretariat the Premier said that his government believed in transparency in democracy and will not let any group or party to hijack the public mandate in the polls.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Asif Kirmani on Thursday said that Pakistan Muslim League (N) has yet not decided the award of party tickets to aspiring candidates for upcoming general elections in Azad Kashmir.
In a press statement Kirmani said “PML-N has not yet taken any decision to award tickets for Azad Kashmir election.” Clarifying various news reports on the subject, Kirmani said, there is no truth in such news items carried by sections of the press. He said decision for awarding party tickets would be reached amicably after a thorough consultative process by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.—APP
