Sadiq Khan elected first Mus­lim Mayor of Lon­don

LON­DON—La­bor Party can­di­date Sadiq Aman Khan has won the Lon­don Mayor elec­tion by de­feat­ing bil­lion­aire can­di­date of Con­ser­va­tive Party Zac Gold­smith. Ac­cord­ing to Bri­tish me­dia Sadiq Khan se­cured 44 per­cent votes; mean­while his ri­val can­di­date Zac Gold­smith se­cured 35 per­cent votes. This is first time in the his­tory that a Mus­lim has been elected as the Mayor of Lon­don. Sadiq Khan is of Pak­istani de­scent and Zac Gold­smith is the younger brother of ex-wife of Pak­istan Tehreek-e-In­saf Chair­man Im­ran Khan, Jemima Khan.

Labour Party’s can­di­date for Lon­don Mayor Sadiq Aman Khan is to­tally dif­fer­ent from his ri­val Con­ser­va­tive Party’s can­di­date for Lon­don Mayor Zac Gold­smith. Sadiq Khan has de­feated the son of Jewish bil­lion­aire busi­ness­man of gold.
