Balochis­tan Fi­nance Secy held; Rs 603m, sen­si­tive papers re­cov­ered

QUETTA—A team of the Na­tional Ac­count­abil­ity Bureau raided the res­i­dence of Balochis­tan Fi­nance Sec­re­tary Mush­taq Raisani at 6 in the morn­ing and re­cov­ered sen­si­tive doc­u­ments and Rs 603 mil­lion cash.

Three cash count­ing ma­chines were called by the team from the au­thor­i­ties to count the cash found at the res­i­dence of Balochis­tan’s Fi­nance Sec­re­tary.

Fake prop­erty doc­u­ments worth mil­lions were also re­cov-

ered dur­ing the raid. Consfi­cated cur­rency is worth Rs 500 mil­lion and $ 200 mil­lion. Gold worth Rs 4 mil­lion and a bag full of im­por­tant doc­u­ments have also been taken into cus­tody.

The NAB also raided fi­nance de­part­ment and ar­rested sev­eral of­fi­cers in­clud­ing sec­re­tary Mush­taq Raisani over cor­rup­tion ac­cu­sa­tion. The NAB raided the de­part­ment lo­cated in civil sec­re­tariat and con­fis­cated all the records.

The work­ers of the de­part­ment protested over the raid and raised in­tense slo­gans against NAB. NAB spokesper­son said that Mush­taq Raisani is in­volved in cor­rup­tion worth mil­lions of ru­pees in Pub­lic Sec­tor De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme’s lo­cal gov­ern­ment funds of 2015-16.

More­over, NAB has also sealed all the rooms of fi­nance de­part­ment.
