Separate colonies for KPs not acceptable: Mirwaiz

Pakistan Observer - - KASHMIR -

SRINAGAR— Chairman of Hurriyat Conference ( M) and Awami Action Committee ( AAC) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday asked the ACC, Hurriyat activists to make forthcoming Hafta- eShahadat a success.

Addressing the AAC meeting held in connection with observing Hafta- eShahadat, Mirwaiz urged the participants to mobilize all organizational units for making the programme a success.

Stressing that at the political and resistance level, entire Kashmiri nation including the resistance leadership and the freedom- loving people were at the receiving end of all types of aggression carried against them to subdue and suppress them, he said attempts were being made to snap the connection between the people and resistance leadership by preventing them from participating even in condolence and religious meetings by using excessive force against them.

Calling for observing the Hafata- e- Shahadat with all the more determination and resolve, he said in such circumstances massive participation in this programme would be a befitting reply to the crackdown on the resistance leadership.

The Mirwaiz said to realize the unfulfilled dreams of Shaheed- eMillat, Shaheed- e- Hurriyat and lakhs of martyrs of Kashmir is the responsibility of the resistance leadership and for this it is necessary to remain steadfast and consistent in taking the resistance movement forward.

Terming Kashmiri Pandits an inseparable part of Kashmiri society, he said Hurriyat has always stood for their returns to their homes and hearths with dignity and honor but settling them in satellite colonies would damage the atmosphere of mutual brotherhood and respect among different communities which has been the part of Kashmiri culture and society for centuries. Such colonies are unacceptable.

Stressing that the claims of government of providing adequate ration to the people had proven to be hallow, the Mirwaiz said it has been observed that after implementation of NFSA in Jammu and Kashmir, the stocks of ration and that of sugar have also disappeared from the ration depots showing that the government was targeting people with aggression in every respect. During the meeting, all the participants expressed determination to observe Hafta- e- Shahadat with resolve and commitment and said, AAC being a foremost organisation in leading Kashmir resistance movement, it was incumbent upon all its rank and file to make the programme a success with discipline and determination.— GK
