Over 2.3m work­ers pro­ceed abroad for em­ploy­ment in 3 years

ISLAMABAD— Pak­istan have ex­ported over 2.3 mil­lion skilled and un­skilled work­ers to abroad dur­ing the last three years ( 20132015) for em­ploy­ment through Bureau of Em­i­gra­tion and Over­seas Em­ploy­ment ( BEOE).

Ac­cord­ing to a source, around 622,714 in 2013, 752,466 in year 2014 and 946,571 in the year 2015 work­ers were sent abroad for em­ploy­ment re­spec­tively through the Bureau.

He said since the year 1971 to 2016 ( Upto April), more than nine mil­lion Pak­istani em­i­grants have pro­ceeded abroad through BEOE.

Dur­ing the year 2015, he said high­est num­ber of Pak­ista­nis ( 946,571) have pro­ceeded abroad for em­ploy­ment.

More than 96 per­cent Pak­ista­nis have pro­ceeded to Gulf Co­op­er­a­tion Council ( GCC) coun­tries and about one per­cent to Euro­pean Coun­tries and other de­vel­oped coun­tries.

Whereas, three per­cent have pro­ceeded to Malaysia, Libya, South Korea and other coun­tries of the world, he said.

He said BEOE was es­tab­lished in 1971, func­tion­ing as an at­tached depart­ment of the Min­istry of Over­seas Pak­ista­nis and Hu­man Re­source De­vel­op­ment and is re­spon­si­ble to con­trol and reg­u­late em­i­gra­tion process.

The bureau also fa­cil­i­tate, su­per­vise and mon­i­tor the ac­tiv­i­ties of Over­seas Em­ploy­ment Pro­mot­ers ( OEPs) and ad­vise the fed­eral gov­ern­ment on em­i­gra­tion and pro­ce­dures.
