RCB imposes fine on food outlets
RAWALPINDI—The food control department of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Monday conducted raids and checked hygiene at food outlets while 22 hotels, restaurants, bakeries and beef shops were imposed fines while four bakeries and a restaurant were sealed on poor cleanliness conditions.
According to RCB spokesman Qasir Mahmood, RCB team on special directives of Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Saima Shah under supervision of Additional Cantonment Executive Officer (ACEO) Rana Rameez Shafqat conducted surprise raids at different food outlets in different areas to check quality of food items.
The team inspected the kitchens and items being prepared there and due to unhygienic conditions and substandard food, imposed fines amounting to Rs 510,000 on 22 hotels, restaurants, bakeries and beef shops including Malik Banaras Hotel, Kalma Chowk; Umar Sweets, Dhoke Syedan, New Raja Hotel, Dhoke Syedan; Pehlwan Samosa, Dhoke Syedan; Bilal Catering Dhoke Syedan; Cake Palace, Dhoke Syedan; Anokha Sweets, Pindi Hazra Hotel, Bismilha Mutton Shop, Dhoke Syedan; Raja Faisal Mutton Shop, Dhoke Syedan; Kitchen of Nisar Bakers, Peoples Colony; Madina Beef Shop, Peoples Colony; Nadeem Beef, Peoples Colony; Peoples Restaurant, Peoples Colony; Kitchen of Unique Bakers, Range Road; Kitchen of Falcon Bakers, Dhoke Gujran; Falcon Bakers, Dhoke Gujran; Kings Marriage Hall and Restaurant, Qasim Market; Bismilla Corner Food, Qasim Market and Geo Hotel Corner Food, Qasim Market.
The team also visited several hotels and bakeries and issued notices to the owners, besides ordering them to maintain standard or else strict action would be taken against them.—APP
