Shah’s house arrest condemned
Jammu and Kashmir and the future of around 1.3 million Kashmiris is to be decided through right to self-determination.
Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Bashir Ahmad Butt and Mir Shahid Saleem made these remarks while reacting to the recent assertions made by puppet Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. She had said that the future of Kashmir was safe with India and that people protesting were not good Muslims.
The leaders said that proIndia politicians like Mehbooba Mufti had no interest in securing the future of Kashmir youth, but were doing political gimmicks to secure India’s future in Kashmir.
The Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar paid rich tributes to Khanyar martyrs and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to safeguard sacrifices of the martyrs, at all costs.—KMS SRINAGAR—The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has condemned the house arrest of party Chairman and the APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Shah on returning from New Delhi.
A party spokesperson in a statement issued in Srinagar said there is no difference between PDP and NC and that both Sheikh and Mufti families are installed by New Delhi to serve their interests in the territory.He said Shabbir Ahmad Shah is continuously placed under house detention for last 31 months. “The police forces outside his residence were removed only for few days when his health condition deteriorated. The PDP-led regime has turned the whole state info a virtual jail,” he said.
Shabbir Ahmad Shah was on Monday scheduled to visit various places in Islamabad to express condolences with many bereaved families including some relatives but police didn’t allow him to move out from his residence. “Shah Sahib had to visit the families of Abdul Majeed Khan, Muhammad Usman Kotwal, Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh, Javaid Ahmad Khan, and Irshad Bed,” he said. Meanwhile, the party spokesperson while condemning the statement of Mehbooba Mufti regarding accession with India termed it a white lie, saying Kashmiris never acceded with India. “It is nothing but a forcible occupation,” he said.
On the directive of Shabbir Ahmad Shah, a delegation led by Molvi Bashir Ahmad which included Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi and Muhammad Yousuf were detained by police at Awantipora while they were on way to Islamabad to visit the bereaved families.—RK
