Orange line metro

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION -

HINA RIAZ These days a handful of people are opposing the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project. The criticism and allegations against Orange Line Metro Train Project from the opponents are baseless. This is part of a plan by the opponents so that ordinary people don’t enjoy the benefits of mass transit system.

These people say that Orange line will destroy historical heritage despite the fact that they never visited these heritage sites even once in their life. They have nothing to do with these heritage sites because they go to Europe along with their children, servants. The opponents of Orange line have never travelled in a public transport. In fact they are not even aware about the problems of common citizens. My concern is that when you have never cared for the poor then why do you bother to interrupt it now? If you can enjoy your luxury cars then why can’t a common man travel in a dignified public transport system?

Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project is going to provide dignified, cheap and efficient ride to the poor segment of the society. These handfuls of people have no right to oppose the right of good transportation for underprivileged. Let us travel in Orange Line Metro Train, let the wheels of progress run smoothly! — Via email
