Balochis­tan to have more pass­port of­fices

ISLAMABAD—The Direc­torate Gen­eral of Im­mi­gra­tion and Pass­port in­tends to es­tab­lish ad­di­tional pass­port of­fices in dis­tricts in Balochis­tan dur­ing this year, out of which one pass­port of­fice has al­ready been es­tab­lished at District Kha­ran.

The Depart­ment has es­tab­lished nine pass­port of­fices in main cities/dis­tricts of Balochis­tan to fa­cil­i­tate lo­cal ap­pli­cants.

The name of dis­tricts of Balochis­tan where pass­port of­fices are func­tion­ing at present in­clude Gawadar, Jaf­fara­had (Deral Al­la­yar), Kech (Tur­bat), Khuz­dar, Qila Sai­ful­lah, Lo­ralai, Quetta, Zhob and Kha­ran. Of­fi­cial sources on Thurs­day said es­tab­lish­ing Ex­ec­u­tive Pass­port Of­fices (EPOs) in ma­jor cities of the coun­try is also in process where peo­ple would get all fa­cil­i­ties for get­ting their pass­ports.

Min­istry of In­te­rior, in its per­for­mance re­port has re­vealed that as per di­rec­tions of Min­is­ter for In­te­rior, Chaud­hary Nisar Ali Khan nu­mer­ous mea­sures have been adopted with sole ob­jec­tive to fa­cil­i­tate peo­ple as Short Mes­sage Ser­vice (SMS) Rabta Ser­vice for pass­ports was also launched to get feed back of cus­tomers.

The other ma­jor ini­tia­tive was ap­proval to es­tab­lish re­gional pass­port of­fices in 73 more dis­tricts of the coun­try and also on­line renewal of Pass­port and Visa is­suance.

Since es­tab­lish­ment of Pak­istan, to­tal 95 pass­port of­fices had been work­ing while af­ter the set­ting up of 73 new pass­port of­fices at district level, no district would be with­out pass­port of­fices.—APP
