Balochistan to have more passport offices
ISLAMABAD—The Directorate General of Immigration and Passport intends to establish additional passport offices in districts in Balochistan during this year, out of which one passport office has already been established at District Kharan.
The Department has established nine passport offices in main cities/districts of Balochistan to facilitate local applicants.
The name of districts of Balochistan where passport offices are functioning at present include Gawadar, Jaffarahad (Deral Allayar), Kech (Turbat), Khuzdar, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Quetta, Zhob and Kharan. Official sources on Thursday said establishing Executive Passport Offices (EPOs) in major cities of the country is also in process where people would get all facilities for getting their passports.
Ministry of Interior, in its performance report has revealed that as per directions of Minister for Interior, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan numerous measures have been adopted with sole objective to facilitate people as Short Message Service (SMS) Rabta Service for passports was also launched to get feed back of customers.
The other major initiative was approval to establish regional passport offices in 73 more districts of the country and also online renewal of Passport and Visa issuance.
Since establishment of Pakistan, total 95 passport offices had been working while after the setting up of 73 new passport offices at district level, no district would be without passport offices.—APP
